Is it complicated to lose weight?

No, it’s simple – but can be difficult to execute on. Machine Leaning is dedicated to taking the mystery out of body mass changes and using science to your advantage. Best of all, it’s free to read!

How do I get started?

Simple. Get yourself three things: a bathroom scale, a kitchen scale, and a calorie-counting app.

Why do I need these three things?

Because everything else is overrated. Rather than spending money on expensive protein shakes or a gym membership you’re unlikely to use, start with tracking what you already eat and your weight fluctuations to calculate your TDEE.

What’s TDEE?

TDEE stands for Total Daily Energy Expenditure. It’s the total number of calories your body burns in a day.
Think of it like this: your body needs energy (calories) to do everything — even just sitting still.
TDEE includes:
– BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) – calories burned just to keep you alive (breathing, heartbeat, etc.)
– Physical Activity – calories burned when you move (walking, exercising, cleaning, etc.)
– Food Digestion – calories used to digest what you eat (this is called the thermic effect of food).

So, TDEE = BMR + Activity + Digestion.

OK, then what?

Once you know your TDEE, you’ll know exactly how much to adjust your food & beverage intake to lose (or gain) body mass. It’s that simple!
